Sociology Assembly, Orientation For Students, Teachers, and Parents

MANILA, PH- Last September 29, from 8 AM-12 NN, the UST Sociological Society held their annual Parents, Teachers and Students Assembly (PTSA) at the Central Seminary Gym. The event presented speakers from different fields in order to orient the students about the job opportunities available to graduates of Sociology.


Guest speakers were Mr. John Phillip F. Bertiz, who finished his master’s degree on Human Resource Management at the University of Santo Tomas is currently a Campus Sourcing Manager at Manulife Business Processing Services and Mr. Ivan Villegas, a Research Insight under the Market Research Department at the Universal Robina Corporation. He is currently finishing his master’s degree in Mass Communication at the University of the Philippines. Both are graduates of Sociology at UST.


Moreover, the event was created to showcase and give sole credits to academic achievers for their hard work and determination in the first and second semester of the Academic Year 2017-2018 together with their parents and USTSS’ Department Chair Asst. Prof. Josephine Aguilar-Placido. Also, the event was created for the sole purpose of answering the parents’ inquiries by the professors. The PTSA had Mr. Antonino N. Tobias IV for the welcoming remarks and Prof. Michael Anthony C. Vasco, PhD., Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Letters for the closing remarks of the program. Meanwhile, the UST Sociological Society Executive Board also made an effort to actually make the parents and students feel at ease by bringing their project, Kapihan (which included a bread for snack) to actuality.
