MANILA, PH- 'Pwederalismo' has defined a very relevant and subjective socio-political situation in our nation today. Last November 12, 2018, the seminar entitled, 'Pwederalismo: Implications of Charter Change on the National Minority and Mindanao Region' was held in the Tanghalang Teresita Quirino inside the JHS Building from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, spearheaded by UST Sociological Society in partnership with various student and youth organizations.

Dindo Roxas, Head of USTSS Praxis Community Development Committee said in his welcome remarks, “Lumalala ang Socio-Political na sitwasyon sa Mindanao” which is the very essence why the seminar about Federalism was basically conducted to provide significant information about the implications of Charter Change for the people in Mindanao, most especially the national minority of the said region who were badly affected.

UST Sociological Society invited representatives from the University of the Philippines (UP) and Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) who were made as the panel speakers of the seminar. It was Richard Kahulugan, Chairperson of UP Praxis, who represented UP and Queen Anne Tayam for PUP and both shared their insights and reactions regarding the forum that has ensued.

The seminar would not be successful without the insights and knowledge of the two key speakers; REP Congresswoman Sarah Elago of Kabataan Partylist, who lobbies for a more explicit economic, social and cultural rights-based approach as a demand by the State, and Ginoong Dulphing Ogan, a Lumad leader and the Secretary general of Kalumaran who shares their experience in Mindanao when the president declared Martial Law in their region.
